Development prospect of Smolensk travel and excursion route

A scheduled meeting of Coordination Council for development of tourism of Administration of Smolensk region was held under the chairmanship of Alexey Vorobyov, deputy of Governor. 

Representatives of executive agencies and local government, representatives of travel companies and specialized higher education institutes and other guests had a part in the sitting of Coordination Council.

Participants of sitting discussed problems connected with a development of touristic infrastructure in our region, extension of inter-regional and international cooperation regarding touristic merchandising, creation and realization of the most perspective touristic projects and  routes in our region.

Head of tourism governance, touristic development of sport, tourism and youth policy department Olga Korsak and architect Alfred Kalinovsky suggested creating in Smolensk travel and excursion route on Smolensk vallum. According to Olga Korsak, it is necessary to create structural facilities of pedestrian area along plot of vallum, to adjust entrances and boosts across tower on to fortress, to equip parking for touristic cars, solve a problem with buffer zones and so on.

Deputy of head of tourism governance and development of touristic infrastructure of sport, tourism and youth policy department Olga Sakharova told about project preparation of inter-regional touristic rout:  Smolensk – Pskov – Velikiy Novgorod «To sources of Russia», that will consolidate  Smolensk, Pskov, Moscow, Velikiy Novgorod and St.Petersburg and possibly will be international rout for Russia, Ukraine and  White Russia.

For project realization and creating of inter-regional touristic rout «To sources of Russia», was made a design to complete an Agreement about collaboration in tourism area between Council on Exercise, Sports and Tourism of Novgorod region, State committee of Pskov region for investment of capital and spatial development and sport and tourism and youth policy department of Smolensk region.

Vice-governor Alexey Vorobyov and Director for internal tourism of “National Touristic Company Intourist” Ltd. Oleg Sheshnjasign an Agreement about collaboration in tourism area between Administration of Smolensk region and above named Company. This agreement opens new possibilities for touristic development in Smolensk region.
