Couldn’t be Borodino, if would not be Lubino?

Military and historical festival «Couldn’t be Borodino, if would not be Lubino?» went on  6 - 7 August in Kardymovo district.

This reenactment became a run-through of the festival «Reenactment of Smolensk battle», which will go on next year, when the country will celebrate 200 years since the victory of the Russian arms in the Patriotic war 1812.

In the battle at Lubino the Napoleon’s last attempt to drive a wedge between three Russian armies and break them up into single ones was prevented. As a result of this battle, the important one in the Patriotic war, the Russian troops joined at the Dnieper in the district of the Soloviovo crossing.

Military and historical festival «Couldn’t be Borodino, if would not be Lubino?» went on  6 - 7 August in Kardymovo district.

This reenactment became a run-through of the festival «Reenactment of Smolensk battle», which will go on next year, when the country will celebrate 200 years since the victory of the Russian arms in the Patriotic war 1812.

500 persons from 40 military and historical clubs of Russia and Belarus in the uniforms of the Russian and French armies took part in the reenactment.

Thousands of viewers oversaw the performance that is Russian and French soldiers came to grips as 199 years ago.

In accordance with the regional program «Development of international and incoming tourism of Smolensk region» the regional budget provided to cover expenses that are 500 000 rubles aimed at the reenactment of this battle.

After the reconstruction the reburying of remains of two soldiers of the Napoleonic army as a solemn ceremony took place. Representatives of the Embassy of France in Russia including military attaché Filipp Despinua came to Smolensk.

On Sunday a war hero bust 1812 of the major general Evgeniy Ivanovich Olenin (1774 – 1827) has been opened in the Memory of heroes square.

In 1812 a noble from Smolensk province commanded a detachment made from alternative battalions.

On Sunday re-enactors went through historical centre of Smolensk with a formal ceremony.

By the end of the festival  a fancy-dress parade was organized in Lopatiskiy sad – participants of the Moscow band of reenactment of historical ballroom dance have showed fashion and dances of the XIX century to the spectators.
