Resume of the film festival «Golden Phoenix»

The grand prize named after Yuriy Gagarin of the All-Russian film festival «Golden Phoenix» went to Andrey Zvyagintsev, producer of the film «Elena». The Governor Sergey Antufiev has presented the prize at the closing ceremony.

The festival went on in Smolensk from 27 August till 2 September.  17 films took part in the competition. Each of them met the only rule of this unusual festival: the competition works should be made by the representatives of cinematographic production professions.

Popular artists of Russia such as Valentina Talyzina, Anatoly Kuznetsov, film producer Raisa Fomina and the chairman of jury, the holder of two main prizes of the festival, popular artist and film producer Vera Glagoleva were on jury.

The main area for the festival was organized in «Sovremennik». The demonstrations also went on in the cinema theatre «Rossiya Prem’er», in the central park of culture and leisure «Lopatinsky sad». Guest demonstrations went on at Gagarin, El’nya, Vyazma, Dukhovschina, Yartsevo, Roslavl.

Traditionally before «Sovremennik» personal stars in honor of popular artists of Russia Alexander Filippenko and Sergey Yursky were laid on.  

«Each of us asked a question why the festival «Golden Phoenix» has come like a dragon in a cultural life of Russia. I thought of this phenomenon many times and found an answer: because this festival was created by successful people. Moreover they take part in it. Thanks to a talent and hard work they became our favorite artists and now they develop their talent as film producers. That is why «Golden Phoenix» is alive and will be alive»,- said the Governor Sergey Antufiev at the  end of the festival.
