What is a Victory for us?

In the hero city of Smolensk near the graves of national defenders with Eternal Glory Fire a solemn meeting devoted to the 68-th anniversary since the day of Smolensk liberation from fascist aggressors. 

The deputy of State Duma Frants Klintsevich, chief federal inspector in Smolensk region Vladimir Slepnev, the Bishop of Smolensk and Vyazma Panteleimon, heads of the regional centre took part in it.

Speaking at the meeting before veterans - front-line soldiers, workers on the home front, the Smolensk garrison soldiers, representatives of public organizations, students and pupils, guests of the city from different regions of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine the deputy Governor Alexey Murygin has noted that Smolensk liberation became a real victory of the Smolensk and Soviet army emerged into a big victory of the country over the enemy.

«What is a victory? It is a heroic deed which the Russian soldiers have made, – Michail Egorov, who hoisted a flag over Reichtag, Ivanov, Petrov, Vasiliev, Stepanov – soldiers defended our motherland. Victory is a freedom – which was achieved thanks to life of the Russian soldiers who died throwing themselves under the tanks with one grenade only. Victory is a memory which we keep and save, moreover today defenders of the Motherland are ready to accomplish a feat for the sake of freedom of our state – the United Russia»,- said Alexey Murygin.

The participants of the meeting stood for a silence minute in memory of died, lied flowers to the Eternal Fire.
