The memorial to Yuriy Nikulin is unveiled in Demidov

Bronze sculpture of the People’s Artist of the USSR sitting on the circus arena accompanied by words «Great actor and clown Yuriy Nikulin» was unveiled on the 8-th of October in Demidov.

The Governor of Smolensk region Sergey Antufiev took part in the ceremony of unveiling of the memorial. Speaking before guests he has said: «When we speak about Yuriy Vladimirovich Nikulin we remember him as a kind and talented person, he is a pride of Soviet Union, Russia.»

The son of great artist Maksim Nikulin has thanked the Administration of Smolensk region, heads of Demidov for their initiative as it shows a deep respect to the memory: «I am sure that a man is alive until the memory is alive. All of us remember Yuriy Vladimirovich, my father. He is alive for us. The memorial means «memory» that is why I will be happy, if little inhabitants will ask their mothers and fathers about this man. And they will tell them about my father».

The circus performance went on at the end of the occasion. But after the end of the ceremony which took place opposite the Demidov local history museum people made photos taking a seat near a famous fellow-citizen.
