Anniversary celebrations of the Russian peace fund in Smolensk

Smolensk department of the Russian peace fund celebrates its semicentenary. Arrangements, devoted to this date were held on the 12-th. of October in regional Administration  and regional Philharmonic Society and also on path behind monument to Fjodor Kon'.

Smolensk department worked under the program «National memory», during of twenty years. For this time were published 26 volumes of the regional Book of Condolence, where lost and  unaccounted-for natives of Smolensk were memorized. Additionally, our region is the only one in the Russian Federation, where Books of Condolence of lost in occupation civilian natives of Smolensk were published. The regional Book of Condolence “Soldiers of Victory” became some kind of monument to Defenders of Fatherland. As a result of collaboration between Smolensk regional department of the Russian peace fund and Administration of Smolensk region became 51 volumes of regional Book of Condolence “Soldiers of Victory” .

Aleksey Murygin, representative of “United Russia” party and Lidiya Nikitina, chief of the regional fund awarded Smolensk activists with certificates and souvenirs in the large hall of Administration of Smolensk region.

Celebrations were continued in the regional Philharmonic Society named after M. I. Glinka, where attended representatives of regional and city legislative and executive powers, the Civic Chamber, the Orthodox Church and  non-governmental organizations, and also delegations from all regional districts, that cooperate with regional department of the Russian peace fund. In celebrations of semicentenary of the Russian peace fund in Smolensk took part delegation of international cycle race «Paris – Moscow» headed by Helena Luig-Arlt and delegations of departments of Belorussian peace fund.

After solemn meeting participants went to Gromovaya tower, near that 100 young plants of fir were planted and so Peas Avenue appeared in central part of Smolensk city.
