The events devoted to the Year of Cosmonautics closing in Gagarin district

Today solemn events devoted to the Year of Cosmonautics closing in Smolensk region are going in the minor homeland of the first cosmonaut. The Governor of Smolensk region Sergey Antufiev, the chairman of the regional Duma Anatoly Mishnev, representatives of the Russian team of cosmonauts, guests took part in them.

The head of the region began his visit with participation of construction area of the Creative House for children and youth in Gagarin district. The works are done in accordance with its schedule. Building is completed, overlaps are erected, heating contour is in progress, basic communications are made, the equipment for observatory and cinema is purchased. Official opening of the establishment will be on 9 March 2012 – the birthday of Yuriy Gagarin. The input of the Creative House will afford to increase the number of children twice.

After that guests went to Klushino village where the first cosmonaut was born in 1934. Sergey Antufiev has visited a local museum and dugout where the family lived during the occupation years.

A preschool group for 20 places was opened in the school of Klushino. This event has coincided with thirtieth birthday since the day of opening of the principal school building.

In 2010 a capital repair of the gymnasium, systems of cold water supply and sewage, medical centers, corridors and recreations, kitchen, systems of heating, base, blind areas and terrace steps, fences was made within the scope of the fiftieth anniversary of the flight of Y. Gagarin . For this purpose 5 mln. roubles were spent from the regional budget.
