The Governor has a keen sense of the pulse of public health's modernization

In recital room of Smolensk state medical academy was held meeting with Sergey Antufiev, Governor of region and doctors of regional health care facilities and medical society.

During this meeting were summarized public health's development of Smolensk region in 2011 and goals of it's further modernization in 2012: effectiveness work increase of medical institutions, implementation of modern methods of diagnostics and medical treatment, accessibility rise of qualitative and high-tech medical assistance, building and major repairs of  health-care agencies.

In his appeal to audience Sergey Antufiev mentioned that public health's development is the most importantpriority of state policy that is realized by regional authority. All processes of modernization that have started in Smolensk region from 2011 are turned to achievement of qualitative new level of health care delivery to people for the purpose of every patient could promptly use specialized medical assistance.

Nowadays 64 regional health-care agencies take part in realization of arrangements that are included in Program of modernization. The total volume of financing provided for 2011-2012 is more than 4 billion roubles.

In 2011 as a result of fulfillment of series of measures of public health's modernization became decrease of death rate because of oncological diseases on 1,7%, cardiovascular diseases – on  13%, death rate from external causes – on 13%. In 2011birth rate index has also positive dynamics notably on 10% more than in 2010.

Governor called special attention during his conversation with doctors to initiatives of regional authorities to handle a problem of staff shortage and particularly in primary health care. In 2011 more than 300 doctors were retrained and advanced in skill. 36 interns got grants at the rate of 200 thousand roubles at the expense of regional budgetе. The head of the region emphasized that in 2012 realization of the Program of public health's modernization will be continued. The total amount of financing from federal and regional budgetеs will be 2,2 billion roubles that will be  invested in upgrading of facilities of  health-care agencies, development of specialty care and  medical personnel development. According to government edict from the 27-th. of December 2011 our region was entered in the countrywide oncological program, due to will arise possibility to recognize oncological diseases at early stages and provide treatment opportunely. For realization of Program for our region were invested more than 470 million roubles from federal budget.
