Sergey Antufiev met with veterans-internationalists
On the eve of the Defender of the Fatherland Day met Governor Sergey Antufiev with leaders of Smolensk regional public organization of local wars veterans and military conflicts named «Union of peacekeeping soldiers». This organization celebrated 20 years from the date of grounding.
Chairman of organization Grigoriy Pavlovich Abramov, his Deputy Valeriy Egorovich Kovalenkov and member of presidium Aleksey Antonovich Tiron told to the Head of the region about their activities. Public organization numbers more then 500 veterans which are participants of local wars and military conflicts. They all were at war in 26 countries of the world at different times. Nowadays activities of organization are regular meetings with youth, museum placed in Smolensk University for Humanities that works actively, visits to districts, work with documents and also social support of veterans. Traditionally veterans take part in Victory Day, Recruit Day Day of liberation of Smolensk and other socially important events.
Governor sent his greetings to veterans on the occasion of celebration of 20 years from the date of grounding of Union of peacekeeping soldiers: «You have shown to whole the world best features of Russian soldiers notably love for your native country, faithfulness to oath, professionalism. You and your comrades dealt with military missions in complicated conditions, supported one another and did not have mercy on your own life. And today you crave for being on stream and being of benefit for our country. Your gathered experience is truly invaluable. This public organization proved its vital capacity, possibility help to veterans with real proceedings. You are very useful for militaries which carried their military duty with honor in Afghanistan and in others hot spots where by our country there were and there are strategic interests».
Also Sergey Antufiev accentuated that creativeness oriented on perpetuating of memory of the fallen and patriotic education of the younger generations deserve the great reward.
