New home of museum of history of youth movement

Governor Sergey Antufiev visited on the 22-th. of February exposition devoted to history of youth movementin Smolensk region. Exposition is placed now in youth center museum named after Admiral Nakhimov. 

Exposition was born many years ago and acted in Smolensk youth home. Unique exhibit items notably colours, awards, decorations, badges, photo materials, records devoted to history of children and youth organizations and students construction gangs, search movements formed its basis.

Selection of exhibit items, search of house and making of exhibition equipment took some years. People that some times ago were directly handled with youth movement in our region accorded an unvalued assistance to museum. This people are veterans of Komsomol (Young Communist League), former Young Pioneer organizers, butchers of students construction gangs and also members of certain modern youth organizations. In 1996 was opened museum of history of youth movement by Smolensk youth home. And i tsituated there next15 years.

Primarily it was supposed to report only about history of regional youth movement but already first years shown that it is necessary to deal and with modern times. Little by little gathered workers of museum information about children and youth organizations acted in Smolensk region. This information was sure to affect in exposition. Department of state youth policy was also formed.

Nowadays exposition of history of youth movement covers the period from the beginning of XX century and up to the present moment. It affects Young Communist League and Young Pioneer organization, searching movement, students construction gangs, world festivals of youth and students, scouts, «gagarintsy», Russian Union of Youth.

Exposition of museum is always updating by new exhibits. Holdings of a museum numbers about three thousand items.
