In Smolensk a centre of artistic gymnastics will be built

This news was informed by Sergey Antufiev who has visited the Smolensk Children’s and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve on the 29 February № 4. The open school day was organized for popularization of artistic gymnastics, studying the work of coachers and involving children into sport.

The Sports school was opened in 1974. In 2005 it got status of the specialized school of Olympic reserve. More than 50 Master of Sports of the USSR and Russia, members of the national team of the USSR and Russia. The school has 22 coachers on artistic gymnastics and choreography, 579 learners among them 306 have common categories, 12 learners have the first category, 6 learners, 6 learners are holders of Candidate Master of Sports, 3 learners are holders of Master of Sports, 1 learner is a holder of the International Master of Sports.

The school has business relations with the department of gymnastics of the Smolensk state academy of physical culture, sports and tourism. The pupils enter the academy and then come back to the Smolensk Children’s and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve and work there in the capacity of the coachers on artistic gymnastics.

The learners have demonstrated to the guests their skill in apparatus gymnastics, free and acrobatic passes, sport dance. After that the Head of the region presented the outstanding sportsmen with grant certificates of the Administration of Smolensk region.
