The winners of the Olympiad on Informatics were congratulated in the region Administration

In a Hall of the Administration of Smolensk region a sizing up of the regional Informatics Olympiad were made. The Governor Deputy - Head of the Department of information technologies, communications and provision of e-services Petr Lopashinov and the Head of the Republic of Belarus Embassy Department in Smolensk Nikolay Kutsko have congratulated the winners and participants.

The regional Informatics Olympiad among students of educational establishments of the higher professional education went on 29-30 March in the Smolensk State University. Each year the number of participants grows up: in the first Olympiad in 2004 64 students from 15 higher educational establishments took part in it, now – more than 90 students from 19 higher educational establishments, including five Byelorussian higher educational establishments took part in it.

First-third year students of educational establishments of higher professional education competed with each other in the knowledge of information technologies. Each educational establishment created a team of three-five students and supervisor from among faculty.

In the first turn the participants of the Olympiad showed their skill how to use in practice standard software Microsoft Office products, in the second turn the students demonstrated their knowledge in the software development using programming languages of high level (Delphi, Pascal, Basic, Сetc.).

The winners defined in two nominations – «Office and applied software» and «Programming». Level of training was scored by jury consisted of the faculty supervisors under the chairmanship of the dean of physical and mathematical faculty of the Smolensk State University Ivan Bolotin.

The first place was taken by the team of the Moscow Energy Power Institute, the second place – went to the team of Belarus – Russian University and the third place went to the team of the Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherova.

Students taken the prize-wining places in nominations got diplomas and valuable presents. That day the participants have heard a lot of warming words. The Governor Deputy – Head of the Information technologies department Petr Lopashinov thanked students for their participation in the Olympiad and for real competitive spirit, he wished them to win new heights in such perspective type of activity.
