Sergey Naryshkin participated in memorable events in Smolensk region

Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy participated in solemn arrangements devoted to coming Day of air-borne troops in Vyazma and Ugra districts. Sergey Naryshkin – Chairman of the State Duma, Vladimir Shamanov – Commander of air-borne troops came in Smolensk region to pay a tribute to the memory of lost soldiers troopers.

In Vyazma took place ceremony of memorial opening devoted to Vasiliy Mergelov – Soviet commander, Hero of the Soviet Union. Geographical location of memorial determines with the fact that exactly in Vyazma took place one of the largest airborne activities of the Soviet Army  during the Great Patriotic War. In midmission in the period from the 18 –th to the 28 –th of February were landed more than seven thousand militaries in the enemy's rear. Honorary right to open the monument was given to Alexander Mergelov – Hero of the Russian Federation, sun of Vasiliy Mergelov.

Ceremony of memorial opening devoted to heroic deed of troopers of the fourthairborne corps during the Great Patriotic War was held in village Zhelanya that is placed in Ugra district of Smolensk region.

Participants of the solemn ceremony of opening laid flowers to «eternal light» then memorial complex was consecrated. 25 people of armed forces personnel of ground cavalry troop of the 106-th sky-borne division showed after ceremony of memorial opening an exhibition performance in hand-to-hand fighting.

At the same time all guests had an opportunity to observe a process of airlift delivery on parachute system «Arbalet».

All celebration events were finished with concert program of pop group «Blue lightnings». Field kitchen were also placed.
