The 200-th anniversary of Smolensk battle was celebrated in our city

Memorable events devoted to the 200-th anniversary of victory in the Patriotic War 1812 were continued in Smolensk.

Members of military-historical clubs which participated the day before in Reenactment by Lubino, marched through the center of our city in the solemn review.

Cavalry detachment with commanders paraded in the lead. 

Victors and vanquished troops went from Lenin square to monument of defenders of Smolensk 1812 showing their uniform to guests and natives of the city.

Oakling grown from acorn that was taken from the grave offield marshal in Polish city Boleslavets was transplanted near by bust of commander Michael Kutuzov in public garden of heroes recollection.

In the solemn ceremony of sapling transplantation participated Deputy of Governor Nikolai Kuznetsov and Julia  Khitrovo - great granddaughter of field marshal Kutuzov.

This Oakling is already the sixth sapling that was granted to the Russian cities where the memory of commander is commemorated.
