Festival of historical Reenactment «Gnezdovo - 2012»

Festival of historical Reenactment and of the early Middle Agesculture took place on territory of archeological complex in Gnezdovo. Numerous guests were welcomed by brave warriors, skillful craftsmen, and beautiful ladies of the early Middle Ages.   

It is already the second year running when archeological complex in Gnezdovo receives Festival of historical Reenactment. On territory of barrows in Gnezdovo was created atmosphere of the centuries IX-XI. And it was made thanks to efforts of staff of historical and archeological natural and culture preserve museum «Gnezdovo» and members of club «Varangian squad» (Moscow). Atmosphere of the centuries IX-XI: military culture and way of life of the early Middle Ageswere recreated on territory of barrows in Gnezdovo.

Audiences had a perfect opportunity to participate in many festival programs and as it said Victor Filozov - chief of the club could feel courage of history.

Nikolai Kuznetsov – Deputy of Governor noted the festival wakes memory of generation of natives of Smolensk. Nikolai Kuznetsov emphasized all importance of international status of festival. In reenactment process participated not only Russian re-enactors but also guest from Belorussia. Vice-governor informed all guest about the future of historical complex in Gnezdovo: «On the 21-th of August, in Smolensk will take place a very serious international conference, devoted to barrows in Gnezdovo. Its participants plan to appeal to UN for the purpose to grant the status of UNESCO object».

After statements of special guests of festival had audiences an opportunity to observe demonstration of military experiences of squad, participate in workshop sessions of craftsmen, attractions and show of Moscow folk-group Teufelstanz.

For all comers were provided visits in historical tavern and in many trade shops.
