In the avant-garde of technologies

Governor Aleksey Ostrovskiy visited Safonovo district with working trip where he familiarized himself with working process of plant «Avangard» that celebrates its the 50-th anniversary.

The joint stock company Avangard (Safonovo, Smolensk region) is the leading enterprise in Russia producing large-size glass-reinforced plastic articles and products of plastic and rubber. The history of JSC Avangard goes back to the enterprise “Safonovo plastics plant” founded in 1962. Since the moment of its foundation the enterprise has worked for civil needs as well as for national defence taking the most active part in production of the most up-to-date soviet rocket-and-space equipment.

Enterprise developed very quickly and mastered technological innovations for plastics processing and composition materials with different arts of chemically resistant coatings. Development of rocket-and-space industry caused foundation of serial production of large-size fiberglass goods – transporter-launcher containers and engine bodies of solid-propelled vehicles. Exactly «Safonovo plastics plant» was selected by Government of the country for serial producing of such goods for space industry.

Nowadays JSC Avangard is within the jurisdiction of Federal Space Agency of Russia and is one of the biggest engineering and manufacturing unit in the scope of composition materials. On the plant continues production of the most up-to-date rocket-and-space equipment. JSC Avangard has great experience in production of wide range of items made to order of the biggest domestic and foreign enterprises of oil and gas industry, chemical industry, metallurgy, machine building, power engineering, transport, municipal engineering. More than one and half  thousand people are engaged on this enterprise.

Governor familiarized himself during his visit with the main stages of technological cycle, working conditions and prospects for further development.

Then participated Governor in the solemn meeting devoted to anniversary date. Aleksey Ostrovskiy awarded the best workers of enterprise with letters of commendation from Administration of Smolensk region and with Governor's letter of appreciation.
