At home of Soviet guard

The solemn meeting devoted to the 71-th anniversary of Soviet guard took place in Yelnya in public garden of Military Glory, Governor Aleksey Ostrovskiy participated in this event.

The Head of the region congratulated veterans of the Great Patriotic War, guests and natives of Yelnya with heroic holyday and noted that the City of Military Glory became a symbol of  largeness, valour and power of soldiers which gave their lives for their Homeland.

Speakers at the meeting accentuated that natives of Yelnya became a great honor - to live in a city of military glory, and it means the high level of responsibility to be worthy of the memory of the heroic past of their land, to increase its glory with real deeds.

It is very symbolic that the Soviet Guard was born in Smolensk, that from century to century protected the borders of our country. Here in Yelnya arrogant enemy was disgraced, and Yelnya became a harbinger of the Great Victory. Examples of valor, courage and fearlessness were shown to the world in the fierce fighting with the Nazi Guard troops.

During his visit to the region visited Aleksey Ostrovskiy LLC "Knitted center", which is a branch of LLC "Charm" (Smolensk). The Governor communicated with team, told about the immediate and long-term plans of the region as a whole, and Yelnya district in particular.

In their turn, theworkers of the enterprise (of 198 employees of the factory, only four are men), shared with the Governor of their painful problems. Aleksey Ostrovskiy listened carefully to all the requests of women and assured them that the change for the better will be necessarily - it is the task of the new Administration.
