Liberation Day of Smolensk

The solemn meeting devoted to the 69-th anniversary of the liberation of the herocity of Smolensk from the Nazis took place in regional center near by Fire of Eternal Glory.

In the meeting participated front veterans, rear workers, the soldiers of the garrison of Smolensk, representatives of NGOs, students and pupils, guests from various regions of Russia and Belarus.

Governor Aleksey Ostrovskiy noted in his address to participants of the meeting: «I would like to see from year to year, congratulating all of you with this great historic day that the government of all levels was not talking empty words smoothly flowing from year to year from the Governor to the Governor but could show results of its work. I assure you that Administration of Smolensk region and I personally do our bests to make you see and feel, what has changed for the better in Smolensk region. We all, no matter in which parties will are heldunited inmemory of the heroism of those who died for a light release of the native land of soldiers and officers. Congratulations to you all, wish you a good mood and well-being to your family!»

Participants of the meeting honored legacy witha minute of silence and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame.

This day Aleksey Ostrovsky participated in the reception in honor of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
