International seminar on Taekwondo in Smolensk

Governor Aleksey Ostrovskiy visited Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism where on the 3-rd of Oktober took place demonstrations of Korean taekwondo masters.

From the 2-ndto the 4-th of October in Smolensk region was organized an international seminar on Taekwondo by NGO "WTF Taekwondo Federation of Smolensk region" under the patronage of the Embassy of South Korea in Russia. Its participants became athletes from Smolensk, Tver and Belgorod regions as well as the cities of Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, the republics of Adygea and Karelia. The region involved in the sport around a thousand people, among them are the winners and medalists of Russia, Europe and the world.

On the day of the State Korea was organized sports festival for natives of Smolensk where was demonstrated mastery of the techniques of Taekwondo.

Aleksey Ostrovskiy welcomed to the organizers, participants and spectators of the event. The Head of the region told the audience that was made a decision to hold annual joint Russian-Korean tournaments which allow young natives of Smolensk significantly improve their combat skills and join the spirit of martial arts taekwondo directly in South Korea.
