Fourth All-Russian festival of student sports is finished

In the assembly hall ofthe Smolensk State University took place the opening of the IV All-Russian festival of student sports, held in Smolensk from the 8-th up to the 13-th of October.

Sport battles took place in the sports complex "Smena", in the pool "Dnepr", in gyms of Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism and of the Smolensk State University, at a stadium"Wings of the Soviets".

The distinguishing feature of these events is they participated 42 teams of noncore university student teams. So, sports universities, including Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism did not participate in this competition.

514 student-athletes from 20 regions of Russia, including Smolensk team competed in eight kinds of sports: badminton, table tennis, sambo, swimming, street basketball, all-around sports, obstacle and intellectual competition quiz. Cups and medals dispersed throughout Russia.

Results of Team Championship are: the I place - Republic of Tyva, the II place - Vladimir region, the III place - Kemerovo region. Natives of Smolensk won second prize in the contest, demonstrating thorough knowledge of the history of the Olympic movement.
