Today on the 382-th kilometer of automobile road M-1 "Belarus" was held the solemn ceremony of traffic opening on one of the main objects of coming celebration of the 1150-th anniversary of Smolensk - new multi-level road junction.

Presence in the region of the transport corridor - the road M-1 "Belarus", on which the road transports between the Central region of Russia and Belarus, the countries of Western Europe and the Baltic states, as well as the North-West, North, Central Black Earth and Southern regions of the country are realized futhers social and economic development of Smolensk region by the dominant influence of roads on the spatial distribution and concentration of production facilities, as well as due to the increase in - and international relations.

In order to improve road safety and improve transport performance of the Smolensk area of M-1, the shortest entry in the industrial zone of the city, a significant reduction in heavy vehicle traffic through residential areas, in terms of preparation for the 1150 Smolensk anniversary, it was decided to include construction of multi-level road junction at kilometer 382 of M-1.

State-owned company "Russian Roads" ("Avtodor") ordered the construction of a new interchange and reconstruction of the M-1 "Belarus" in general from Moscow to the border with Belarus. Work on the site began in May 2011. The new interchange was built on a "Turn key", Contractor shall perform all construction works at its own expense. All payments with the contractor for performed works are effected only after the commissioning of the facility. The length of the junction 2,24 km, and with the length of the convention - 5,45 km, four-lane road. The total cost of the project exceeds 740 million rubles.
