Mass and free rink is opened on central square of Smolensk. The initiative to create the ice rink in the center of Smolensk, which is already very popular among inhabitants of Smolensk, belongs to Governor Aleksey Ostrovskiy.

Appropriate instructions of regional Head were executed. Now Lenin Square is a full rink with additional lighting and by perimeter is established snow pillow. Sizes correspond to the size of the ice surface standard hockey box: 30 to 60 meters.

At the rink skate rental is valid (in the presence are 400 pairs of size 32 to 46, children under 14 are free skates), equipped locker rooms and a snack bar where you can warm up with hot tea and coffee. Organized medical staff is also on duty.

Lev Platonov – Acting Governor of Smolensk region came to try ice. "Today is a truly festive evening - in the very heart of our hero-city Smolensk is opened public skating rink. It is opened to you, dear natives of Smolensk. This initiative was made by the Governor Aleksey Ostrovskiy, such decision was difficult, because we had to get used to the fact that on the historic square will suddenly appear rink. This roller will serve to strengthen of our health and improve mood", said Lev Platonov at the opening ceremony of ice surface.
