IV International volunteer camp "Nadezhda" started its work in the Smolensk region

The volunteers from England, Germany, Slovakia and the Smolensk volunteers from the "Perspectiva" center will take part in the work of the international volunteer camp "Nadezhda".

Deputy Governor Olga Vasilyeva welcomed the participants and guests of the event. The opening ceremony of the camp was traditionally held at the Smolensk regional state budgetary organization "Rehabilitation Center for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults with disabilities "Vishenki".

Coordinator of the international volunteer camp "Nadezhda", Head of International Relations at the Administrative Office of the Smolensk region Administration Evgeniy Zakharenkov pointed out that the winter meeting of the volunteer camp was an experiment of its organizers. Volunteer camps in Smolensk have never been held at this time of the year but it is already clear that the practice of "winter camps" will continue.

During the opening ceremony of the young people from the “Vishenki” center and their foreign friends performed the drama miniatures, exchanged gifts and souvenirs and participated in a big collective dance.

During the last of the week of the camp the volunteers will take care of the young people of Smolensk, provide all possible assistance to the center members, share their experience with Smolensk teachers.

The International volunteer camp "Nadezhda" is going to work in Smolensk till March, 18. Its main purpose is to help children with disabilities to adjust to the modern society. The project is carried out with the support of the Administration of the Smolensk region and under the personal patronage of Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy.
