In Smolensk tribute was paid to the victims of the plane crash

Today in Smolensk there are ceremonies dedicated to the memory of the victims of the plane crash in which Polish President Lech Kaczynski and other representatives of the government, the army, the clergy and public organizations of the Republic of Poland were killed. The plane Tu-154 of the Polish President crashed in the morning of April 10, 2010. There were 96 people on board all of whom died.

The memorial ceremonies marking the third anniversary of the tragedy began at the site of the crash of the Polish airplane. Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District Nikolay Ovsiyenko, Bishop of Smolensk and Vyazma Isidor and other official guests, as well as people of Smolensk laid flowers and wreaths at the memorial sign near the airfield "Severniy".

After that the memorial services in memory of the victims of the crash were held by the Smolensk and Polish priests nearby the birch tree where the Polish airplane crashed.

The ceremony was attended by the Polish delegation: a member of the Council of Ministers, the Head of the Chancellery of Poland's premiership Jacek Cichocki, Minister of National Defense Tomasz Semonyak, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Stanislav Rakochy, the Head of the Security Bureau of the Government Krzysztof Klimek, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Russia Wojciech Zajączkowski and other guests. In memory of everybody who died they lit lamps, candles, laid flowers.
