The motor rally "Victory is one for all"

The international motor rally "Victory is one for all" dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad arrived at the square near the “Gromovaya” tower in the Hero-city Smolensk.

Six GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" cars are going to cover more than 6,300 kilometers on the territory of the three countries - Russia, Belarus and Ukraine within 15 days. The oldest vehicle taking part in this civil-patriotic project was made in 1949. By the way, this rarity car participated in the rally on the route Nizhnevartovsk - Ekaterinburg, which was successfully held in May, 2012. This time, the rally route will pass through 13 Hero-cities. It started on April, 25 in Murmansk and its route includes St. Petersburg, Moscow, Tula, Smolensk, Minsk, Brest, Kiev, Odessa, Sevastopol, Kerch, Novorossiysk. The “Pobeda” cars will reach the finish on May, 8 in the Hero-city Volgograd, and on May, 9 they will take part in the events dedicated to the Victory Day.

The participants of the rally, veterans, youth gathered for the ceremony held at the Fire of Eternal Glory in Smolensk Park of Heroes. Deputy Governor of the Smolensk region Nikolai Kuznetsov said in his welcoming speech: "Today we are here, in this holy place to welcome the participants of the motor rally over the places of the Great Patriotic War battles. We pay tribute to our fathers and grandfathers who won that terrible war. I wish you success in this patriotic deed – covering the planned route".

The program of the motor rally in every city has a deep educational meaning and includes meeting veterans and youth, laying flowers to the graves of soldiers, visiting historical sites of the Hero-cities reminding of the spiritual values of the Motherland, of the great feat of soldiers in the Great Patriotic war, of our common historic past.

After the ceremony the motor rally participants laid flowers to the Eternal Flame in Hero-city Smolensk.
