The anniversary of "Children's Cinema May"

The cinema "Sovremennik" hosted the opening ceremony of the Fifth Anniversary Smolensk Cinema Week "Children's Cinema May". The event was attended by Deputy Governor Olga Vasilyeva, President of the Charity Foundation for Children "Children's Cinema May" Lyudmila Yevtushenko, theater and cinema actors and culture professionals. The audience could enjoy the performance of Honored Artist of Russia singer Barbara and violin virtuoso Alex Wexler. A premiere of the film "1812: Ulanskaya ballad” opened the cinema week.

To mark the anniversary of the project the Charity Foundation "Children's Cinema May" and its partners prepared wonderful gifts for the Smolensk youth: a virtual branch of the Russian Museum is going to appear in the regional center, game rooms are going to be opened in the Smolensk regional children's hospital and rehabilitation center "Vishenky", and the assembly hall is going to be repaired in the Cadet Corps. Also, the Foundation together with its partners will provide targeted assistance of over one million rubles to the children's social institutions in the region.

Russian and foreign films will be shown within the Cinema Week. Each day will have its own theme - "Good-bye, School! Welcome, Summer!", "Famous People of the Smolensk land", "XXI century Movies", "Fairy World of Disney”, “Best Films from “Racurs” studio". In addition, there will be children sports and fitness event "May starts", a master class on painting in the pottery workshop "Smolenskaya izba", debates and panel discussions, actors and directors will meet the students of regional boarding schools.
