The Presentation of the "Smolensk-1150" album

The literary salon of the A.T. Tvardovskiy Library hosted the presentation of the "Smolensk-1150"album, created by a group of authors for the anniversary of the regional center.

The book includes a historical sketch of Smolensk from its first historical mention up to present days, photographs of historical and cultural heritage sites, details of the finds discovered during archaeological excavations in the period from 2010 to 2012, which have never been published before.

The album begins with a welcoming speech of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill.

The Smolensk authors have been working on the album for about two years. According to them, the main objective was to show Smolensk in the way encouraging the reader to live there. "The publication of the album proved the demand for high-quality local history literature. I am sure that this book is the first step towards the future general work on the history of the Smolensk land, which is so needed today ", - said Head of the Culture and Tourism Department of the Smolensk region Vladislav Kononov, attending the ceremony.

2,600 copies of the album have been issued; some of them have already been transferred to the library network of the region. The book is also available in retail stores.
