Celebrating the 107th anniversary of Alexander Tvardovskiy’s birth

The homeland of Alexander Tvardovskiy, Zagorie Farm, hosted the regional poetry festival "There is people’s soul in his poems ", dedicated to the 107th anniversary of his birth. Those who admire our countryman’s talent, poets and writers, representatives of the regional administration, the authorities of the Pochinkovskiy district, Smolensk region people gathered at the memorial museum-estate.

The guest of the festival was Deputy Governor of the Smolensk region Lev Platonov. "Alexander Tvardovskiy’s work has been praised by many of his readers and admirers. His works are the best proof of his talent. The important thing is what we will leave to our children and grandchildren. Alexander Trifonovich has left a lot,"- said the Vice-Governor.

It has become a tradition to award the literary prize of the Smolensk region Administration on this day. This year it was awarded to a journalist, local historian, writer, member of the Journalists Union of Russia, one of the founders of the Public Council of Tvardovskiy Readings, Peter Privalov. On behalf of the Head of the region Lev Platonov presented him a diploma.

The guests of the celebration enjoyed the performance of the amateur bands, poets, the art-group "Smolenskie muzhiki". Craftsmen exhibited their works. Everyone could help themselves to the tea with herbs from samovar, listen to folk songs, and participate in traditional entertainments. The students of art schools had an open-air painting session "In the landscape surroundings".
