Dmitry Kozak checked on the progress of the anniversary facilities construction

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, accompanied by Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy and other members of the organizational committee, visited a number of construction and reconstruction sites of the anniversary facilities. He also checked on the progress of the facades and roofs renovation in the hospitality area of downtown.

The first facility, which the Vice-Premier visited this time, was the embankment of the river Dnieper. Alexey Ostrovskiy explained to Dmitry Kozak that a new contractor "RZhDstroy” has started the embankment construction works. Every day, about 120-140 people are working at the construction site. The positive dynamics is already visible. By September 1, the contractor guarantees to complete all the work on the first upper level, including landscape and gardening design. Dmitry Kozak asked the new builders of the great Slavic river embankment a number of technological and organizational questions.

The Investigation Department of the Investigation Committee of the Smolensk region brought criminal actions against the former Acting Director OGKU "Head Department of Capital Construction in the Smolensk region" under Part 1 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code "Negligence" and against the top management of the former General Contractor OOO "Aerotehstroy" under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code "Large scale Fraud". Just in the case of criminal schemes with the piles, the damage amounted to 4.5 million rubles. The investigation is proceeding according to the plan. The Regional Office of the Federal Security Service performs its operational support. 15 officials have been questioned. In July the examination will be assigned and carried out in a short time. Then the investigation can move on to its final stage. A number of technical and accounting examinations have been assigned in the case of "Aerotehstroy". The representatives of the law enforcement authorities said that other fraud episodes in the construction of the embankment may be detected.

Next, Deputy Prime Minister visited the territory of the Cathedral Hill area and the Assumption Cathedral. Dmitry Kozak was pleased with the changes he saw. The Deputy Prime Minister couldn’t help pointing out the visible results of the Puppet Theater reconstruction in Dzerzhinsky Street. The renovated building is radiant with fresh paint and a new look.

Also, Dmitry Kozak went inside the building of the future cultural and exhibition center named after the Tenishevs in Przevalski Street. Here, on August, 31 the exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the city of Smolensk will be opened. As Alexey Ostrovskiy explained the construction workers have already begun the final stage of work.
