Field Day in the Smolensk region

On July, 12 the SPK "Prigorskoe" of the Smolensk district hosted the traditional for the Smolensk region scientific workshop "Field Day", during which Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy examined the presented samples of modern efficient agricultural machinery and the results of the crop industry activities.

The event was attended by the heads of municipalities, heads of district agriculture departments, representatives of agro-industrial companies. Research and academic institutions, federal agencies, which make a significant contribution to the development of agricultural science and production, also attended the exhibition. All in all, over four hundred people took part in the seminar.

The main objective of the workshop was to share experience of introducing into the production process the cultivation technology elements of the most important for the region crops.

The territory of the "Field Day" was divided into thematic sectors. Thus, there was a presentation of reclamation equipment required for the drainage systems and canals maintenance, and for the commissioning of unused fallow land. More than 120 units of agricultural machinery from leading Russian, Belarus and foreign suppliers were also presented.

Today, the farmers can make use of modern technology and machinery for tillage, planting and harvesting crops, of fertilizing machines and plant protection products. Machinery for harvesting hay and silage, trailers, lift trucks, mixer wagon, equipment for the dairy farms and other types of equipment were also exhibited.

Besides, more than seventy varieties of major crops of the Smolensk region were presented at the workshop.

At the end of his speech, Alexey Ostrovskiy awarded Letters of Appreciation from the Governor to the managers and employees of the agricultural enterprises of the region that have achieved high production results.
