Alexey Ostrovskiy at the youth forum "Smola - 2013"

Governor of the Smolensk region Alexey Ostrovskiy visited the regional open youth forum "Smola -2013", which was launched on July, 29 at the recreation center "Chaika" in the national park "Smolensk Lake District”, where he answered the questions from young activists for an hour and a half.

The Forum is supervised by the Regional Education, Science and Youth Affairs Department. The participants are 130 leaders of student councils and youth organizations, youth trade unions, activists from public organizations, talented youths from the Smolensk region aging from 18 to 25 years old. Such educational and discussion project provides a unique opportunity to solve the problem of identifying and training future managers for the professional reserve of the Smolensk region, helps to find new youth projects, to create a database of intellectual, creative and leadership potential of young people in our region, creates effective youth teams in the municipalities which take part in implementing the main points of the state youth policy.

At the beginning of his speech, the Governor noted that the ideas of young Smolensk people can really help the regional and municipal authorities effectively coordinate their efforts in solving the pressing problems of the youth.

During the informal discussion with the head of the region the young people eagerly shared some of their unconventional ideas on pressing issues and changes taking place in the region. The second phase of Smolensk NPP construction, the development of search movement in the Smolensk region, road repairs and gasification, employment prospects and the construction of sports facilities in the area, the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Smolensk in the districts and the positioning of our region in terms of tourism were among the issues that Alexey Ostrovskiy was asked about within the framework of a frank and intense conversation.

Summing up his visit, Alexey Ostrovskiy said that he was sure that holding such youth forums will help the successful development of the Smolensk region. "Have good and useful time here. I hope you will remember these days all your life. Nothing in this life comes easy. Do not be afraid of difficulties. Everything can be solved. The main thing is to believe in yourself "- was the Governor’s advice for the young Smolensk people.
