The Smolensk region celebrated the anniversary of the battle at Lubino

In the Kardymovsky district on August, 3 there was a military-historical festival of reconstruction of the battle at Lubino, that was one of the key battles in the Patriotic War of 1812, when the last Napoleon's attempt to split Russian armies and defeat them one by one was stopped. The toll of the Russian army in the battle was about 5,000 people; the French army lost more than 8,000 people.

Traditionally, the anniversary of the battle at Lubino is celebrated by holding the military-historical festival. This year, members of 35 military-historical clubs from Kaliningrad, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, other Russian regions, as well as Latvia and Belarus met on the “battle” field.

Traditionally, the anniversary of the battle at Lubino is celebrated by holding the military-historical festival. This year, members of 35 military-historical clubs from Kaliningrad, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, other Russian regions, as well as Latvia and Belarus met on the “battle” field.

The reconstruction involved more than 30 horses and 20 copies of artillery weapons. The use of fireworks during the reconstruction of the battle allowed the audience to feel the authentic atmosphere of the Patriotic War of 1812.

At the end of the participants of the reconstruction marched to the memorial on Lubinsky field where the remains of a Russian soldier, who died in 1812, which were found in July of this year, were buried in compliance with military protocol and church canons.
