The 25th anniversary of the regional organization of the All-Russian Society of Disabled People

Governor Alexey Ostrovskyy took part in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the regional organization of the All-Russian Society of Disabled People, which took place in the cultural and entertainment center "Gubernsky".

Established in 1988, the regional public organization now includes more than 34 thousand people, members of 400 primary organizations in most areas of Smolensk region.

In his speech, Alexey Ostrovskiy said: "It is wonderful that today we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of our regional organization, which is in constant contact with the authorities, with the administration of the region and municipalities. And it constantly confronts us with questions on how to improve your quality of life. Because, of course, you find it hard, very hard. We, the people, who have greater abilities, will never understand what you are actually experiencing and what feelings you live with. Therefore, we will continue to work for you, we will do our best. Please, accept our sincere respect. Have a nice holiday. Let the God help our organization to develop and help all of you".

All the speakers noted that the regional public organization of the All-Russian Society of Disabled People in full accordance with its motto "Together we can do more" supports its fellow countrymen in the most difficult situations, helping them to find new strength to believe in themselves. Following the vocation of their kind souls, the members of the organization take care of people in need. Doing this noble task, they demonstrate the best human qualities: kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, patience and tolerance.

Joint efforts of the regional government and the society of disabled people led to some positive results in the field of social rehabilitation of people with disabilities in Smolensk region. The target program "Social support and rehabilitation of people with disabilities" is being carried out successfully, the long-term target program "Providing easy access for people with disabilities, living in Smolensk region, to social infrastructure". It has become a tradition to hold annual regional, city and district art festivals and sport competitions for the Disabled. Many disabled people of Smolensk are the prize-winners of the All-Russia festivals, national and international sports competitions.

At the ceremony Alexey Ostrovskiy awarded Honour Certificates from the Administration of Smolensk region and Letters of Appreciation from the Governor of Smolensk region to the representatives of the organization.
