The Live Relay: 1100 - 1150 - 1200

In Smolensk, on September, 28 in the Victory Square there was a ceremony of opening and laying the capsules "The Message from Smolensk people to their descendants". In the presence of residents and visitors of the city the metal capsule with the "Message for the future generations", laid 50 years ago in September 1963, when the 1,100th anniversary of Smolensk was celebrated, was removed from the Smolensk fortress wall – the Necklaces of the Russian land.

It is remarkable that half a century later there were the people who 50 years ago were present at laying the capsule, which waited inside the Smolensk fortress wall behind the plate with the inscription "To be opened September 28, 2013".

After opening the capsule there was a large-scale flash mob "Live Fortress Wall", involving about six thousand people who lined up along the inside perimeter of the wall (which is six kilometers), and gently handed along the scroll "Peace and prosperity to the Hero-city of Smolensk".

The process was videotaped and now it claims to be included in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest flash mob, bringing together thousands of people in a single live circle.

After that a new message to the future generations of Smolensk people, addressed to 2063 when Smolensk is going to celebrate its 1,200th anniversary, was laid inside the Smolensk fortress wall.
