The award ceremony for the best inventors and innovators of Smolensk region

The Administration of the region hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the annual contest "Best Inventor and Innovator of Smolensk region".

In his opening speech Head of the Industry, Transport and Roads Department of Smolensk region Vladimir Shukalov said: "Invention and innovation are real driving force of the development of mankind. Everything around us was once invented by someone. So this is one of the most important spheres of human activity. Today, the country faces the task of modernizing the economy, which, of course, requires extensive development and support of these activities".

In accordance with the rules of the contest, it was held in two categories: "The best industrial organization of Smolensk region for the development of technical creativity" and "The best invention, the best utility model, the best industrial design, the best innovation".

The works created in the last 5 years (2008-2012) and confirmed by the patents for developments in the industry could take part in the contest.

The contest in the category “The best Industrial organization of Smolensk region for the development of technical creativity", according to the rules, was declared invalid, since there was only one bid from the industrial organization to participate in the contest.

At the same time, 30 works, confirmed by the patents bid to participate in the contest in the category "The best invention, the best utility model, the best industrial design, the best innovation". Each of them was assessed by the expert group. When assessing the works the experts took into account the novelty of the invention and its relevance for the industrial sector.

In the end, the invention of Alexander Bobrov and Valentina Mitsevich "Groundwater treatment plant and waste water treatment" was recognized as the winner of "The best inventor and innovator of Smolensk region" in the category "The best invention, the best utility model, the best industrial design, the best innovation".
