The first regional contest "Veterans Farmstead"

The hall of the Administration of the region hosted the award ceremony of the regional contest for the best veterans’ farmstead in Smolensk region.

The contest "Veterans’ Farmstead" was initiated by the Administration of Smolensk region for the first time. It is aimed at preservation and revival of the best family traditions, succession of generations, development of love for the native land and labor in young people, strengthening and expansion of private farmsteads, which guarantee the production of organic agricultural products.

The contest was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Food of Smolensk region, with the active support and participation of the regional public organization of veterans (pensioners) of war, labor, armed forces and law enforcement agencies.

The contest committee was working for several months. The contest is held in three categories: for the best keeping of livestock, poultry, bees in a private farmstead “Best breeder (beekeeper)”, for the best gardening and horticulture, crop diversity "In the orchard, in the garden ... ", for the best estate design " Best veterans’ farmstead". The winners were awarded diplomas and cash prizes. Also, a number of farmers received other awards.

After the award ceremony Tatiana Rybchenko and specialists of the Department made specific suggestions on possible options for the development of farm plots, gave advice on how to make the work on them more economically profitable and etc. Some time ago the regional Veterans Council suggested the idea that the social program "Veterans’ farmstead" could be of great benefit. It is necessary not only for veterans as one of the conditions for the development of farmsteads of elderly people, but also for the society, since the purpose of the program is to provide the population with tasty and organic products.

The Chairman of the regional veteran organization Vitaly Vovchenko stressed that veterans received the support of the current management of the Administration of Smolensk region, and the Department of Agriculture and Food has done everything possible for the contest "Veterans’ farmstead» to give reliable and positive results.
