There will be an ice rink in the main square of Smolensk again

Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy initiated opening an ice rink in the main square of Smolensk again. The ice arena for the first time appeared in Lenin Square last year and immediately became very popular with visitors and residents of the city.

The new rink has been arranged according to the wishes of the residents and suggestions of the authorities of the region. Instead of one ice arena the residents of Smolensk will enjoy three playgrounds: there is an area of 60 by 35 meters with a special area for children for public skating, and a separate hockey box of 20 by 30 meters.

The opening ceremony was held in the ice rink last weekend Deputy Governor – Head of the Administrative Department of the Administration Lev Platonov greeted the Smolensk residents: "Dear Smolensk residents! The new administration supported the initiative of Governor Alexey Vladimirovich Ostrovskiy to turn this square into the all-year-round recreation area for the people of Smolensk. Today we open the three facilities: for public skating, for hockey players, and for children. In addition, in 82 municipalities there will be also ice rinks open. The slogan suggested by the Administration is "Smolens people are for a healthy lifestyle!" is working. I wish you good health, happiness and success. Smolensk people are for a healthy lifestyle!"

The resident and guests of the city are already coming to the ice rink, where additional lighting has been installed, the music is playing, there are changing rooms and a snack bar, and medical staff on duty.

The entrance to the rink with own skates is free, sport equipment rental at the affordable prices (children under 14 years are provided with free skates) is open from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays. The work of the rink will be organized according to the weather conditions.

In addition, there was an opening ceremony of the main holiday symbol - a Christmas tree in the central square of Smolensk.
