The Governor visited the Christmas service

In all the temples, churches and parishes of Smolensk region Christmas Day is being celebrated.

According to the tradition, the main church service was held on the night of January, 7 by Bishop of Smolensk and Vyazma Isidore in the Assumption Cathedral. The temple was filled with parishioners, city residents and visitors – with people of different ages and professional backgrounds, many of whom came with their entire families.

The day of birth of the Son of God is a joyous event for millions of Orthodox Christians, instilling faith in goodness, love and justice. Over the past years it has become not only a church holiday in our country and is celebrated today as a national one throughout Russia.

The Christmas night church service was attended by the Governor of Smolensk region Alexey Ostrovskiy with his wife and daughter.
