Everybody is skiing!

The sports complex "Smena", located in a picturesque corner of Smolensk – Krasny Bor, hosted a regional, the twelfth one already, stage of All-Russian mass ski races "Ski Track of Russia - 2014", uniting fans of one of the most popular sports.

On Sunday afternoon about five thousand Smolensk people of all ages went skiing to enjoy the frosty air of the pristine pine forest and to say proudly: "I am a participant of the" Ski Track of Russia".

The leaders of different levels of authorities did their best to keep up with the rest of the Smolensk residents. On behalf of Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy, his deputy Nikolay Kuznetsov gave start to the most mass ski race. The Head of the Main Department of Sports of Smolensk region Eduard Zaenchkovsky, department heads of the regional and city level and many others came to support their compatriots in their decision to spend this wonderful weekend in a healthy way.

It is remarkable that on the eve of the Winter Olympic Games opening in Sochi the daughter of the Olympic champion Nadezhda Talanova - Arina Ovchinnikova won one of the professional races today’s "Ski Track of Russia" in Smolensk won a convincing victory.

The winners of the competition received gifts, and after a great ski walk everyone could enjoy the porridge from the field kitchen and a cup of hot tea. The numerous participants said that the "Ski Track of Russia - 2014" was a great success of the healthy lifestyle!
