The annual Olympiad in Computer Science opened in Smolensk

One of the oldest universities in the country, the Smolensk State University, hosted the opening ceremony of the eleventh annual Olympiad in Computer Science among students (cadets) of the educational institutions of the higher education of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

This year 12 teams representing universities of Smolensk region, and 6 teams from the fraternal republic take part in the competition.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vice-Governor Nikolay Kuznetsov. The Olympiad is held in two rounds. In the first round the students and cadets compete in the ability to practice the standard Microsoft Office software. In the second round they are to design programs in the advanced programming languages (Delphi, Pascal, Basic, C, etc.). The winners will be chosen in the individual championship in each round, in the absolute individual championship (by the sum of the two rounds), in the team championship in each round and in the absolute team championship.

The results of the IT-competitions will be announced on April, 18 at the closing ceremony of the Olympiad.
