"Energy of Victory"

On the eve of the 69th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War the event "Energy of Victory" was held in the main square of the Hero-City on the initiative of the Education, Science and Youth Department of Smolensk region. During the event more than 400 young Smolensk residents stretched the St. George ribbon, the length of which is nearly 400 meters and the width is 36.5 cm.

After the hundreds of participants lined up from the entrance to the “Lopatinsky” park to the crossing of Lenin Square with the roadway, the two soldiers began to unwind the ribbon, which was at that very moment picked up by the hands of the flash-mob participants.

Next, the ribbon was used to form the very important and dear for every person in our Homeland words "the 9th of May" and a symbolic "Star of Victory". Thus, the event "Energy of Victory" launched a campaign "St. George Ribbon" throughout Smolensk region.

The indicated parameters were selected by the organizers not accidentally. According to their idea, the surface area of the ribbon symbolizes the population of the Russian Federation together with the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol (400 meters = 400,000 millimeters, 36.5 centimeters = 365 mm, 365 x 400,000 = 146,000,000).

The St. George ribbon stretched in Smolensk will be in fact the longest one in Russia. To fix the record a relevant application was sent to the organizing committee of the Book of Records of Russia.
