The visit of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the LDPR faction in the State Duma to Smolensk region

The head of the LDPR faction in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and 29 of his fellow deputies and two senators made a working visit to Smolensk region.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky began the busy program of his visit with a bilateral meeting with the Head of the region. At the meeting Alexey Ostrovskiy told the Head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia of the socio-economic situation in Smolensk region.

Then the delegation headed by Vladimir Zhirinovsky took part in an expanded meeting with the members of the Administration of Smolensk region and heads of regional departments.

Opening the meeting, Alexey Ostrovskiy said that it was a significant day: "It is the first time when I have the pleasure to welcome here my party leader, my teacher, and a dear for me person, Vladimir Zhirinovsky and all of you, my colleagues, with whom I worked in the State Duma".

In his turn Vladimir Zhirinovsky said that this two-year break was a principled position of the LDPR faction. In fact, it was a "trial period" for Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy, which, according to Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the Head of Smolensk region passed with honor. The Administration of the region could ask for more help from the LDPR faction. Vladimir Zhirinovsky reminded the managers of the regional level that there were 32 committees on different aspects in the State Duma. The deputies of the LDPR faction work on each committee, and a greater cooperation of the relevant committees of the State Duma and the departments of the region, which was called by Vladimir Zhirinovsky "the beginning of Russia", will benefit both parties. The deputies will know particular regional problems and will really help solving them.
