The Regional Professional Skills Olympiad took place in Roslavl

For two days in the Roslavl District the Regional Professional Skills Olympiad was held for the students of the vocational institutions of Smolensk region training to be tractor-drivers in agricultural industry and majoring in Mechanization of agriculture. The Kozlovsky Agro-Technology College hosted the competition.

The competition, organized on the initiative of the regional Education, Science and Youth Department and with the support of the Food and Agriculture Department, has been held for the fourth time. According to the organizers of the Olympiad, it is aimed to increase the prestige of working professions and improve successful social partnership with employers.

The participants of the competition, in-service training specialists, teachers of the agricultural colleges of the region, representatives of the regional and municipal authorities, community and media, managers of agricultural enterprises met in the Kozlovsky Agro-Technology College.

The competition at the Kozlovsky Agro-Technology College, which is a resource center for "Mechanization of agriculture" major, began on the very first day and consisted of the two rounds. The first one was a theoretical exam, which included a computer-based examination in traffic rules and safe operation of tractors and self-propelled machines. The second round was a practical one, in which the participants had to demonstrate their skills of driving tractor-units when performing a number of elements in the field. All the participants were success-driven and showed good theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

At the training site there was a real celebration of agricultural activities, young professionals and modern technology. The guests examined the exhibited samples of tractors and tillers, got acquainted with the advanced technology and developments with great interest. During the breaks everybody could have a test-drive of the machines.

The winners in that hard competition were Sergei Mostachev from the Kozlovsky Agro-Technological College and Sergei Mikheyev from the Pochinokovsky Industrial-Technological College. They are going to represent Smolensk region at the All-Russia Olympiads in Voronezh and Tambov.
