The Governor visited the innovative company "growing" and processing of semiconductor crystals

Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy visited an innovative company that was set up at the premises of the former ZAO "Evroglass" (closed joint stock company) under the leadership of Victor Derenkovsky. Together with his colleagues-scientists he established the "Crystalline Materials Group" production company, which was innovative not only for Smolensk region, but also for the whole Russia.

The company "grows" and processes semiconductor crystals: synthetic sapphire or sapphire glass. These materials, used in microelectronics, medicine, aerospace, military and civil engineering, have a great future. The Governor was shown the domestic scientific and industrial achievements, successfully implemented in Smolensk region.

Synthetic sapphires are used to create durable glass, for example, bulletproof glass or glass for the scientific equipment. Sapphire glass is widely used in production of modern smartphones and communicators.

Talking to Alexey Ostrovskiy, Victor Derenkovsky noted that the demand for the high-tech products is very high today, so that the company is going to be busy. Moreover, the company has highly qualified staff. Not very big, but closely united team of scientists and engineers with doctoral and postdoctoral degrees, winners of various prizes – highly professional researchers from leading institutes of the former USSR – work here.

"We can rightfully say, that this is a company unique for Smolensk region in terms of practical application of the latest technology, - said Alexey Ostrovskiy after the tour of the production facilities. - Our task is not only to help the investors financially, not only to help them to solve organizational issues such as the provision of the land plot and other preferences, but also to assist with the product sales. Therefore, if your business is competitive and ready to evolve, we are ready to lobby for your interests so that specialized agencies paid attention to the high-tech products form Smolensk region".

At the end of the visit, Alexey Ostrovskiy said that he would strongly recommend the Administration of the Rudnya district to treat the urgent needs and projects of the company with maximum consideration. The Governor also noted that the present Administration of the region has undertaken considerable work, due to which the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia approved the allocation of 107 million rubles from the federal budget funds to demercurizate the territory, equipment and workshop of the former ZAO "Evroglass" (closed joint stock company).
