Alexey Ostrovskiy visited Smolensk regional Clinical Hospital

On the eve of the Day of Healthcare Professionals Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy came with a working visit to Smolensk regional Clinical Hospital, where he got acquainted with the work of its departments and met with the its management. There the Head of the region also presented the awards to the best representatives of the medical staff.

Smolensk regional Hospital is one of the largest medical institutions not only in the region, but also in Russia. The hospital’s bed capacity is 1,140 24-hour beds. The premises and medical equipment are constantly improved through significant financial resources, allocated for the modernization of the hospital from the federal and regional budgets.

On the eve of the Day of Healthcare Professionals Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy came with a working visit to Smolensk regional Clinical Hospital, where he got acquainted with the work of its departments and met with the its management. There the Head of the region also presented the awards to the best representatives of the medical staff.

Smolensk regional Hospital is one of the largest medical institutions not only in the region, but also in Russia. The hospital’s bed capacity is 1,140 24-hour beds. The premises and medical equipment are constantly improved through significant financial resources, allocated for the modernization of the hospital from the federal and regional budgets.

Alexey Ostrovskiy was satisfied with the fact that all people in the region who need medical care, but can’t get the necessary assistance in the districts, are treated by the highly qualified doctors of this medical institution. The hospital staff provides 24-hour emergency and scheduled consulting services to the people, transports patients from district hospitals to the specialized divisions of the main medical institution of the region.

Inpatient care at the hospital is provided to both adults and children in 23 spheres, including gastroenterological, cardiological, neurological, surgical, neurosurgical, trauma, urological, oncological, gynecological, ophthalmic, ENT, pulmonology spheres, etc. In 2013 more than 32 thousand patients were treated in the 24-hour hospital.

At the Regional Hospital there is a regional vascular center, which provides specialized care to the patients with acute vascular diseases. The center has the capacity of 30 cardiological and 30 neurological beds, and in 2013 more than 1,000 patients with acute coronary syndrome and 900 patients with cerebral stroke were treated here.

The capacity of the outpatient department of the regional hospital is about 500 visits per shift. Outpatient care is provided in 19 medical spheres. The number of visits in 2013 was 118,000. The main part of outpatient medical care is provided within the territorial state guarantee program and is free, the number of paid visits was less than 2%.

The hospital employs 558 nurses and 345 doctors of various specialties, more than 66% of them have the qualification category, all of them are certified doctors. The staff of the hospital consider their main objective improvement of patients’ health, and some doctors have already been awarded the highest medical titles. Today, during his visit to the hospital Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy presented the awards to the five healthcare professionals. Valentina Aleksandrovna Ivanova (a nurse-anesthetist of the Intensive Care Department), Tatiana Petrovna Russiyanova (a gastroenterologist of the Gastroenterology Department), Aleksandr Leonidovich Savchenko (Head of the Pediatric Surgery Department) were awarded the insignia "Healthcare professional of excellency".

Natalia Viktorovna Gnepa (Head nurse) and Yulia Pavlovna Frolova (Head of the Physiotherapy Department) received Honor Diplomas from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
