The working visit of the Governor to the Safonovo district

Alexey Ostrovskiy came with a working visit to the Safonovo district, where he got acquainted with the work of a number of enterprises of the municipality. Also the Head of the region took part in the ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of Safonovo which was celebrated on that day.

Visiting the municipality before, Alexey Ostrovskiy noted many times that the Safonovo district is a major industrial center of Smolensk region, promising for opening new productions and creating new jobs. Recently, with the support of the regional administration the district has been developing actively, factories with modern equipment have been built.

His stay in the Safonovo district Alexey Ostrovskiy began with a visit to CJSC "Ariada", located on the territory of the Baranovskoe rural settlement. The company produces sandwich panels, refrigeration equipment, steel structures.

CJSC "Ariada" has recently entered the local market: the trial run was made last October, and the products have been manufactured since June 2014. It is planned that, when working at full capacity, the number of staff will be 190 people, and the annual output volume in monetary terms will reach 3 billion rubles.

Currently, the "portfolio" of orders is being actively formed.

Next Alexey Ostrovskiy visited the new company LLC "Safonovsky meat processing plant ORLAN", which was set up on the territory of the Baranovskoe rural settlement in 2013. The investor of the project was LLC "YUrAl".

In 2013, a line of pigs and cattle slaughter was built and launched (its capacity is up to 2,000 and 400 animals per day respectively), also the facilities for simultaneous storage of 1,000 tons of chilled and frozen products were built. The first production cycle was started in July, 2013. Every day the company loads 12-18 vehicles that transport its raw and ready products to the leading meat-processing plants of the country.

The second stage of the project implementation was completed this year: a modern boning workshop for production of meat products of the industrial group and meat products of consumer group with the capacity of 150 tons of finished products per day was built. The completion of the third stage - the construction of production line of the canned meat with the capacity of 5 million cans per month – is planned for 2015-2016.

The new company will give the district 700 jobs (at present the factory employs 200 people). In fact, the investor makes it a point to employ mainly local people. The whole production cycle, from slaughter to deep processing (90% waste), minimizes the possible harm to the environment. The remaining 10% of the waste will be processed into feed. After completing the construction and launching the last production line of the meat processing plant, OOO "YUrAl" plans to invest in construction of their own fattening company in the Safonovo district in order to create a closed production cycle - from breeding to deep processing of the produce.

After visiting the meat processing plant, Alexey Ostrovskiy headed for the Safonovo sewing factory "Orel", which was built back in 1961. The main activity of the company employing 300 people is making and selling work clothes (overalls). The "old-timer" of the town, which gives significant revenues to the budget, shows a positive trend in the output growth: in 2013 this figure exceeded the one of the previous year by 8%. This positive trend continues this year.

In order to improve competitiveness, to increase market share, and to create more comfortable working conditions, the company's management decided to modernize the production. Therefore, last June on the territory of the sewing factory there was a ceremony of laying the first stone of the new workshop. Currently, its construction is close to the end, the up-to-date high-tech equipment is being installed. At the same time the production process is being carried out in the old workshops.

A trial run of the new production workshop will be done in August 2014. It is planned that when working at full capacity, the company will work in two shifts, productivity will increase by 1.5 times, and the number of employees will be 600 people.

After visiting the major companies of the district Alexey Ostrovskiy took part in the ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 62nd anniversary of Safonovo. Annually, the district center celebrates the Day of the Town on the last Saturday of June.
